Gelatomio the Traditional Ice-Cream @ Pavillion

Ice cream is one of the dessert that often most of the time bring joys and happiness to people regardless the age range. I still remember my parents used to promise buying me ice-cream if I go for tooth extraction at dental clinic.

Throughout these days there were so many choices of ice cream available in the market. From Conetto, magnum until Baskin Robin, Swensen, New Zealand Natural and Haagen Daaz. But have you try out Gelatomio instead? Non other than the traditional Italian Ice Cream.

Massimo Minecci came to Malaysia from Italy 14 years ago and made Malaysia his home. However for the longest time, he could not find a place that sells gelato that he is satisfied with. So he decided to make his own in 2004 and called it Gelatomio (My Gelato)

Started at Bangsar Telawi, Gelatomio has grown with outlets in Time Square, Subang Parade, Pavilion KL, Penang, Melaka and Johor. For your information, approximately 70 major hotels and restaurants in KL carry them including Shangri-La, Le Meridien, Pan Pacific, Prince Hotel, Hilton, G Hotel, chinoiz and espressamente.

From a simple 12 flavours, Gelatomio has also grown to more than 60 flavours of Ice Cream today.

Quality is always the main concerned of Massimo when he producing the gelato. Only top grade ingredients be used in the production of Ice Cream. The fruits that used to make the Gelati are mostly imported from the best countries produces them and rejection is done if the fruits are not up to quality upon receiving it.

Massimo has just recently launched his outlet in Pavilion KL adding a new feature that his other outlets do not carry: the cold stone. Aptly called ‘Gelatomio on the rock’, you can choose your favourite flavours to be ‘fried’ together with your favourite toppings on the cold stone.

Take a look what I meant about ‘Gelatomio on the rock’ prepared by non other than Massimo himself =]

Other than that, we get to try out a few flavours of ice cream at Gelatomio Lounge...

The Dark chocolate above is no milk added but yet rich and creamy in taste while the black sesame is nicer than any than I tried at other Japanese ice cream shop. Smooth in taste and doesn't make me feel "jelak" with.

Since I'm a huge fans of berries, the berries ice cream gave me the best memory in mind. It was made by 4 berries : Strawberry, Blueberry, Blackberry and Rasberry. Other than that, the Calamansi ice cream hits my mind with the sorbet-like taste and super refreshing for everyone. Taste it yourself if you want to know what I mean =]

A great thanks to my cousin Mei Ying for the invitation to the ice cream tasting session with the starter of Gelatomio Mr. Massimo himself.
