Photo-shooting at Kek Lok Si *极乐寺* Penang

This is the first time of me visiting Kek Lok Si 极乐寺 thought it's so famous and near to my home town.

Thanks to blogger Chris

being my tour guide

bringing me around in Kek Lok Si

Not forgot to mention that his house is walking distance from Kek Lok Si itself and the pathway to the temple is so nice for photoshooting. Thus we can save up our car park fee and park in front his house. * Okay, I been cheapskate this time thought I always said I'm not! *

Kek Lok Si 极乐寺 is also know as "Temple of Supreme Bliss" or "Temple of Sukhavati". This Buddhist temple is situated in Ayer Itam and also one of the best known temple on the Island.

For your information, Kek Lok Si is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia.

This pagoda combines a Chinese octagonal base with a middle tier of Thai design and a Burmese crown, reflecting the temple's embrace of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.

The latest addition to the temple complex is the 30.2m bronze statue of the Avalokitesvara - Goddess of Mercy or Kuan Yin on the hillside above the pagoda.

To get a closer look of the Kuan Yin statue, we have to go to the furthest left of the hall and board the incline life which cost RM 2 each way.
